Overview: It’s About Investing in our Future

After recommendations from the Bayless Community Facilities Advisory Committee and the Bayless School District Administration, the Bayless Board of Education has voted to place a NO TAX RATE INCREASE bond issue on the April 7, 2026 ballot.

Proposition I - Invests in Our Future, continues our long-standing commitment to putting students first through Infrastructure, Innovation, and Improvement. The Board has determined that this new investment is needed to protect our buildings, strengthen safety and security, modernize critical systems, and ensure our schools remain strong, healthy, and fully prepared to serve students for decades to come.

Importantly, Proposition I allows Bayless to address aging infrastructure while maintaining fiscal responsibility. The District plans to issue bonds within its existing tax rate, meaning this proposal comes with no increase to the debt service tax rate for residents. A favorable bond market and Bayless’s careful financial planning make this a smart and responsible time to invest in our schools.

Introducing Proposition  I

Proposition I  is designed to protect and modernize Bayless’s school facilities, ensuring they remain safe, efficient, and supportive of high-quality learning. While the 2019 Proposition 1 bond issue allowed Bayless to solve overcrowding and create a fully self-contained Junior High School, Proposition I focuses on the next critical phase: taking care of the buildings and systems that support our students every day.

Proposition I will provide funding across four key areas that directly impact students, staff, and our community.

  • Health, Safety, and Security Improvements
Protecting students and staff through building repairs, accessibility upgrades, campus security enhancements, playground improvements, and the addition of a storm shelter.

  • Building System Modernization and Energy Efficiency
Replacing and upgrading aging HVAC, electrical, and lighting systems to improve reliability, indoor air quality, comfort, energy efficiency, and long-term cost control.

  • Classroom and Learning Space Renovation
Updating classrooms and instructional spaces across all schools with improved floors, ceilings, lighting, furnishings, and flexible learning environments.

  • Facility and Site Enhancements for Student Programs
Improving and expanding spaces for academics, activities, athletics, and community use, including a new student and community activity and learning center, outdoor facility improvements and a storm shelter.
